progress (as a noun): a forward or onward movement, a gradual betterment. progress (as an intransitive verb): to move forward, to develop to a higher, better, or more advanced stage.

I decided to internalize what I have been learning from speaking with various people working in food/agriculture/biotechnology fields. these "experts" serve as interview subjects for an on-going project that I plan to work on until all possible human resources have been exhausted.

in my most recent body of work, I went home. I spoke with the women that created the food diary of my childhood to see what their food diaries were like, and how mine ended up the way it did. though a vegan now, my baltimore rooted diet was full of meat-inclusive meals, some prepared from a cardboard box (hamburger helper), veggies from a can (green giant), and even fast food (you name it, I probably ate it).

by speaking with the women in my family, I have chronicled a progression beginning with my grandmother (b. 1933) and ending with my niece (b. 2002) of my family's food history. the conversations are recorded, and the audio serves as the basis for a video project. in addition, research remnants from my studio (books, notes, old projects) form an installation to compliment the conversations.
